Rock Star

Sketch of Doc (character from this post http://kelamorrison.blogspot.com/2009/11/australian-adventures.html) Hopefully I will colour this one.

(Sometimes sketches overlap each other, but that's a-okay!)

Jackie Dressed in Cobras: FINISHED

Coloured in Photoshop! Yay (I'm not very experienced in Photoshop, but I'm really happy with the results.)

Jackie Dressed in Cobras II

Getting closer...

Jackie Dressed in Cobras

(Uh oh. I picked my pencil back up. Now the dishes will never get done!)

What I'm currently working on: Ever heard the song "Jackie Dressed in Cobras" by The New Pornographers? I was listening to it the other day and got an urge to draw Jackie dressed in cobras. Cool imagery. This is a rough sketch. I will probably draw it again before cleaning it up and colouring. I drew it too small and couldn't do any details. Yay! Art!

A Little Crazy

WARNING: The Character List and the Summary contain *spoilers*, because it's a play and that's just how they're formatted. Everything up front! So if you wanna be surprised, skip to Act I.

A Little Crazy by Kelly Morrison

With only a few days to prepare for his father’s visit, Marshall must create the illusion of a normal life despite the antics of his spiritually in tune girlfriend and his time traveling roommate.

A portion was read at National Arts Centre 4th stage during the Algonquin Hot House Reading Series in 2007. My wonderful actors got a lot of laughs.

This is only Act I. If you'd like to read Act II, please email me at kelamorrison @ gmail.com (without the spaces.)

Dark Fairy

What's better than Fairy Princesses with Super Powers? DARK Fairy Princesses with Super Powers!

Is the blood too far?

xoxChilly

Luca

But Kelly, you're a grown woman. Why would you make a Winx Fan Character? Ummmm because they're freakin' FAIRY PRINCESSES WITH SUPER POWERS! Man oh man! If I could be a freakin' fairy princess with super powers with a vampire boyfriend, I'd be set for life :)

Winx Mode

Luca's powers ("winx") comes from the Lunar Ecplise. That's why she wears the nifty belt signifying the different Moon Phases.

School Dress

You can tell she's going to school because she has a book. CLEVER. This was done using pen and pencil crayons so the colours ended up kinda muddy. Maybe someday I'll try to fix it up in photoshop.

Once Upon a Dream

Please click FULLSCREEN to read

Once Upon a Dream by Kelly Morrison

By day Stella is shy and plain, but in her dreams she is bold and beautiful. Night after night Stella dreams of extraordinary adventures where she rescues her true love, Milo, from deadly threats. In reality Milo is the cute new boy in school who doesn’t even know Stella exists. Stella is content deluding herself with her fantasy life until characters from her dreams start leaking into the actual world and attacking the real Milo. Suddenly her life is a nightmare haunted by a dark enemy she knows only as Shadow Man. Stella must become the girl of her dreams to save the boy of her dreams

This is a portion of a screenplay taken from the middle of Act II. If you'd like to read the script in it's entirety, please email me at kelamorrison @ gmail.com (without the spaces) and I'd be happy to send it to you. It's just a precaution to keep track of who has copies.

Still from Spirited Away

Watercolour of a still from Spirited Away. Taken at an angle to avoid glare. This photo really doesn't do it justice.

Bratial Arts

A friend of mine asked me to design some characters for a animated show idea of his. As you can see it involves a ninja...and a bra...

When my friend looked at the drawing in the top right corner of the rough sketches he asked, "Why is the ninja wearing the bra?" Umumum cuz it's hilarious! Sadly, I did not make a coloured version of the bra wearing drawing...tho maybe I should.

More people should request me to draw stuff. It motivates me.

Wapos Bay Spec Script

Please click on "FULLSCREEN" to read the whole thing in it's own window where you can zoom in. It's too tiny otherwise!

This is SPEC script (written on my own initiative and not picked up) for a show I used to animate for, Wapos Bay. I crossed out a couple things on the title page to protect the innocent ;)

Captain Awesome

Click FULLSCREEN for a better view.

This short film was produced by the Algonquin Broadcasting students class of '07 (Super Salty Productions) under the name "Good Bad Guy." I even had a cameo as Underage Girl. I had an AWESOME time watching my writing go from script to screen!

What's so great about being good?

When it comes to hand to hand combat Super Villain Professor Peril has no chance of defeating Average City's saviour Captain Awesome. However, luck is on the bad guy's side. When Peril's alter-ego, Dry Cleaner Trainee Courtney Lance, gets his hands on Captain Awesome's costume he sees it as an opportunity to smear the beloved Superhero's good name. Dressed as Captain Awesome, Courtney goes on a city wide crime spree. But in Average City Captain Awesome can do no wrong and Courtney is at risk for developing a taste for heroism. In the meantime, without his suit to hide behind, the real Captain Awesome's character is unmasked.

Transplant Concept Art

This is concept art for a short film I pitched to NFB for their annual Hothouse. It's a rough idea I had of using textured backgrounds. In the end I wasn't in love with the story idea. It had an enviromental message which I do believe in! But whenever I go to write something serious, I end up writing something funny in it's place. The same would've happened here.

Doc Down Under

My friend Elly and I (and sometimes other people) have been writing an on going story for years. Basically we each have a few characters (rock stars, actors, cops, etc.) and write from their perspective. We tag each other back and forth to come up with the next plot twist. It's a fun writing exercise, but since is has no overall story arch, it's purely self indulgent. Still I have fun writing it and like to reread stuff from time to time. One summer we did a long story about our characters in Australia. Here's a sample written from the perspective of a couple of my characters.

PATEN:

"Ohhhh pretty," gasped Doc.

I followed her gaze to a new arrival hugging Chaz. "And so enters the love interest," I muttered.

"Huh?" asked Doc.

"Nothing."

Doc skipped over to get introduced and I wandered up, half listening to the conversation.

"Oh I’m taking the 4x4 and travel in convoy," said this Bunyip guy. "Give everybody some more room. And Doc you wanna keep me company for a while?"

"Sure!" said Doc a little too eagerly. "But I’m driving!" Then she took off towards the driver's side of his 4x4 before he could protest.

"I wanna drive too!" I exclaimed and ran towards the driver’s side of Chaz’s pick up before she could stop me.

In no time Doc was tearing away from the gas station and I was yelling at Chaz and Rio to get their butts into gear.

Halloween Art

I had an epiphany: I can merge my creative side with my mom side! Halloween was just the beginning of the fun: Pumpkin carving, mood lighting, and spooky window paintings! Love it.

Raising the Dead (blog)

My friend Andrew set up this blog for me over two years ago. Sadly, he never showed me how to use it...or actually I think he tried, but gave up when he saw how confused I got. But I'm older and wiser now so I think I can handle running my very own blog! I will do my best to post writing and artwork on this site and pull my poor blog out of the gutter it's been festering in for years.

Cheers to second chances!
